The Rules of the Race
The rules of race are simple, be courteous be safe and have fun (this will be hardcopy in your race bag and read aloud at prerace meeting)
This is turning out to be an awesome event with 80+ participants, near 100 volunteers and great corporate sponsorship so we are looking forward to everyone having a great safe day.

Prerace Meeting “(rules etc)”
8am to 8:15 am at the transition zone which is straight south of main beach.
Race “Shotgun” Start
Swimmers will be gated thru at the beach for a headcount and a shotgun start of 8:30 SHARP.
The swim course will be marked by red and yellow buoys on Saturday night. There will be volunteer kayakers, 3 motor boats and 1 rescue boat, all manned with qualified people and equipment. There will be “strippers” on shore exit to aid with wetsuit removal . . . . as a side note the water is as warm as it has ever been. (my daughter-in-law Natalie is thinking that she might not even wear her wetsuit) so there!!!
“jack got all excited when he heard there would be strippers on the beach until Brad explained their job description”
The bike route is marked with green wooden 2″ x 2″ squares affixed to trees on the right hand side of the course. If you are a novice rider like me be prepared to get off your bike every now and then to avoided tipping over on the good stuff. There will be a waterfirst aid station at 850m, 2.96 km (top of the hill) including a Porta Potti, 5km ( a random point along mystery trail), at the intersection of Ferguson Hill Road and the top of Horseshoe Canyon Lookout as well as 2 first aid stations on the downhill portion of Horseshoe Canyon. (don’t be surprised to find me at one or more or all of these stations actively receiving first aid) The ride is awesome but the fast guys are doing it in +1hrs. while the more cautious (sane)riders are around 3 hours so take your time and have fun. This will be a “courtesy” trail so if a rider comes from behind and calls “pass”, the forward rider will pull over and allow them to pass or if no room is readily available get off hisher bike and allow the pass to occur. I don’t anticipate this being a problem as there is ample room for this all to occur in a friendly event such as this.
The run is 7 km of fantastic scenery, 2 waterfirst aid stations will be placed at the extreme east and west ends as well as 1 in the middle transition area. Be prepared to deal a little with traffic (as well as at the tail end of bike route) but we will have all them good volunteers out directing traffic with their vests and stop signs and directing you on where to go!!!
